Dear AdNet Employees, Clients and Friends,
I hope the holiday season brought everyone a lift of joy as we discovered new ways to connect with our loved ones and our spiritual practices. My mother would have been proud to see me earnestly attend the holiday services reciting every prayer as though she were standing next to me. Over the years as I changed my childhood faith to another denomination, when I would go home to New Jersey and attended church together, occasionally I would forget a few words. There would be a loving nudge and a whisper “guess you haven’t been to church lately!!” CAUGHT!! My older brother, who was a Roman Catholic priest, didn’t care where I worshipped, as long as I had faith. My faith is very strong as we move through each day of social distancing and staying at home. Today marks 28 days that the AdNet team has been home and away from our regular work routine. It was today that I felt more emotional than any other day at home. I spent a little time out today, dropping off masks that were lovingly made by one of our employees and getting to see a few clients that I had not seen in a while. I’m a hugger, way more than a typical business handshaker so not being able to hug my kids, grandkids, mom and treasured clients and employees has rattled my heart strings.
When emotions run high or at a soulful level, it’s important that we practice Self-Care. Over the weekend I pulled out The Language of Letting Go by Melodie Beattie and the page for April 8 was turned down. The meditation for that day was Self-Care. Okay universe, you are sending me another important message to hear. Since many of you on this email thread are hard-working over achievers, this message rang true and I’d like to share it:
Many of us have learned how to deprive and neglect ourselves. Many of us have learned to push ourselves hard, when the problem is that we’re already pushed too hard.
Many of us are afraid the work won’t get done if we rest when we’re tired. The work will get done; it will be done better than work that emerges from tiredness of soul and spirit.
Nurtured, nourished people, who love themselves and care for themselves, are the delight of the Universe. They are well-times, efficient, and Divinely led.
Today, practice Self-Care for this is our time to re-emerge each new day and for when we return to our physical workplaces, nurtured, nourished and a delight!!
