Tidbits of Joy #80 - What Being an Ally Actually Means

Dear AdNet Employees, Clients, and Friends;

Merriam-Webster defines “ally” as “one that is associated with another as a helper; a person or group that provides assistance and support in an ongoing effort, activity or struggle.” In recent years, the term has been adopted specifically to a person supporting a marginalized group. Many only associate the term with the LGBTQIA+ community, but every underrepresented and marginalized community needs allyship – especially during these unprecedented times. We need to take of each other and not take for granted the liberties and freedoms that we have. It’s important that we reach across groups to show support and “see” each other.

When I was planning out Season Two of Room at the Table, I knew that I wanted to discuss allyship and bring a clear understanding of what it means to be an ally to my listeners. In this month’s episode, I am joined by two of my good friends – Shanae Murray and Patrick Mutch. Shanae is the Chief of Administration & Performance Management at BWI Airport and Patrick is the President and CEO of Chase Brexton Health Care.

I invite you to take a listen to this month’s episode and join the mission to bring equity to all. Thank you for your support of Room at the Table and I hope this August treats you well.

Best wishes,

Betsy Cerulo
