Dear AdNet Employees, Clients and Friends,
April is Stress Awareness Month, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. If this past week has taught me anything it is that everyone in the world needs to prioritize their mental wellbeing in order to get through the tough uncertainties that many in America are facing this week. It is wise to surround ourselves with people who get who we are and really hear how rapid changes are impacting people. If something does not directly touch you, don’t dismiss that person’s pain. Take your head out of the sand and show empathy because people’s lives are in harms way. And if that person doesn’t understand, let go, plain and simple; because their lack of understanding has everything to do with them and not you.
It is inevitable that we are all going to feel stress at some point in our lifetime, but extreme or long-term stress can be bad for our well-being.
My team and I are committed to our employees and clients’ wellbeing because we care about YOU like family. This week, we decided that one of the most important things we can do to help alleviate some stress is finding ways to have a good belly laugh each day. Laughter is often times the best medicine we can receive, so for the last several months, my team and I have been cooking up some ideas on how to bring smiles to all of your faces. One of these ideas is called “AdNet’s Job Corner” where we are doing our own take on the famous Baltimore Hons. In the coming weeks, you will meet Balmer Betty, Parkville Patty, and Dundalk Dotty and learn some great tips about the dos and don’ts of the job market along the way.
Some other ways I encourage everyone to try to reduce stress include talking to your loved ones, either to ask for their advice, or just to share your feelings. If you do not feel you have anyone that you can confide in within your social circle, please know that you can contact any of us at AdNet for your safe space. Exercise, healthy eating, and getting enough sleep all benefit stress reduction. An important thing to remember in times of uncertainty is to find joy and relaxation each day. This can include playing a game, spending time outside, reading a book you’ve been looking forward to, listening to music, or rewatching a comfort tv show or movie.
If you’re going through stress and not feeling positive, try to be kind to yourself. Treat yourself the same caring way that you treat your loved ones. Taking steps to manage stress is something to be proud of.
We will get through this together! And know you are loved.
With love,
Betsy
