Tidbits of Joy #106 - The Dolly Legacy

Dear AdNet Employees, Customers, and Friends,

This week we lost the beautiful soul and icon, Dolly Parton. We thought she would last forever and even in her illness, she protected her fans and gave us hope that she would recover. How selfless to not worry us and show up with light and love in Dolly fashion. A true angel. Dolly left us with a legacy that we can all learn from and build upon. Her message was simple and clear, love everyone, and be kind. She commented about most every unfortunate event in our country and her message was always direct and genuine that EVERYONE has a place at the table no matter what we look like or who we love. So simple yet still so very hard for people to follow her message of unconditional acceptance.

We were inspired and moved by her music. Dolly would get on stage and draw you into both her music and her heart unconditionally. Her philanthropy was given from a humble place with little fanfare though everyone showed up when she cut the ribbon to any venture she touched. Wow, what an inspiration for women to see that in the man’s world she grew up in, Dolly made her expectations clear and stood up to the bullies and misogynists. We love you for that, Dolly. Her Imagination Library gives free books to children around the world. Here is the link to donate. Reading is a powerful gift no one can ever take away even when they try to ban books. I wonder when people realize that when you tell a kid that they can’t read a certain book, they are going to seek it out even more. That’s what we all did as kids when our parents said no!! Dolly donated $1mm towards COVID research to help save lives and stood steady with her decision. I loved her courage!!

I invite you to reflect on her legacy and let’s carry it forward to be kinder, more accepting, more playful and let the music inspire our souls. Turn up the volume and dance to 9 to 5 which is the empowerment song for women to really get how great and powerful we are.
