Tidbits of Joy #105 - The Power of Peaceful Pivoting

Dear AdNet Employees, Customers, and Friends,

Over the past 6 years, the word “pivot” came up so many times with how we view business and our lives in our ever-changing world. I like when, sometimes, life is comfy and cozy and predictable because I know what to expect. Yet, the recent years show that change comes quickly, and we always have to be ready for change at a moment’s notice. And we need to practice patience in business because what we expected yesterday may be different tomorrow. Pivoting is important in our personal lives too. Every person makes different choices, and we need to be mindful of not interfering with someone else’s journey. My childhood was filled with a lot of love and a lot of loss. I was groomed to be strong through loss and believe me; I’m not wearing that as a badge of honor………it is probably a coping mechanism that serves me as I heal through loss. And loss comes in the death of a loved one as well as changes in relationships. That is where we practice life-pivoting.

There are times when we need to take long hard looks at interactions in our relationships to preserve our well-being. Some are glorious and some no longer serve us. The tough part is when you finally see the truth, recognize the tolerations that repeatedly show up and then ask yourself, are the crumbs that I am receiving enough? It’s a tough question to truly come to terms with. At different times in our lives, we determine if we can sustain the tolerations or make hard choices to change. It is hard to be around people who distort the truth to feed whatever they are attached to holding onto. It’s usually grounded in fear. And it’s hard to be around people who hurt themselves or hurt us either overtly or with microaggressions. I am reading a book about forgiving oneself when we make the decision to let hurtful relationships go wherever that relationship resides in one’s life. We are worthy of healthy relationships, and we are worthy of saying “no” when yes repeatedly hurts too much.

Letting go brings us a sense of freedom and we have to get through the initial void to get to the joy from letting go. That initial void is where our inner work comes in very handy to guide us. There is a wonderful mantra “Let Go and Let God”. Oh, and that is so very true!!! If anyone is forcing you to engage in a way that rattles your soul, let go. If you are trying over and over again to have someone live a healthier life yet they habitually do things that cause concern, let go. It’s their choice. If you repeatedly give of your time, talent & treasures with the hope they do something different, let go. Life is so precious and we need live it wisely. If you are feeling guilty for letting go, let go of that old conditioning and stand in your joy. You may find that the energy you put into waiting for, asking for, hoping for something different, will be used towards being present for people and experiences that lift your spirit and help to heal humanity. That sounds like a daunting task to “heal humanity” yet small acts of kindness from lots of people, can shift an outcome.

Today, I ask you to sit with these observations that I am posing and know we can release the thoughts that keep us awake at night or unsettle us. This is the power of the pivot!! Take a deep breath, pause, reflect, and pivot towards your joy. We’ve got this!! 😊

With gratitude,

Betsy Cerulo
