As October wraps us in crisp air and flickering jack-o’-lanterns, I find that Halloween offers more than costumes, candy, and cobwebs – it gives us a moment to pause, play, and remember the power of delight in small surprises.

Sometimes the best treats aren’t candy at all. A genuine compliment, a shared laugh, or a surprise note of thanks can feel more magical than a full-size chocolate bar. The glow of a candle in a carved pumpkin is a simple reminder: even the faintest light breaks through darkness. In our work, our connections, and our moments of care, we have the ability to be that light for someone else.

Halloween invites us to step outside the usual – to dress up, to imagine, to laugh at the things that go bump in the night. That kind of levity, even for a short time, can refresh our perspective. Let kindness guide us with a thank you and a smile. 😊
